Are you...

Going to have more kids?

At one time this question was funny. At other times it was a chance to show off my quiverfull piety. (ha) Now it is just plain vomit inducing...that or it makes me want to throw things. I seriously want to look at people and ask them to please stop asking me about my husband's and my intimate life.

So here's my new line. I came up with it during the sermon today.

Every day the Lord opens wombs and every day he closes wombs. If you figure out His will for me feel free to share. (Then end with a smile and a wink just to show that you're nice and leave them wondering if you're kidding or not.)

I pray the Lord would give me more kids, but sometimes we don't get what we want. So yes, he opens and he closes. Now, if people do ask, it is strange because I give that kind of answer, but secretly I'm so, so sad. Anyway, just seemed to fit what you're saying.

It is such an irritating question and I get it ALL the time. My answer now is just a shrug and an "I don't know." If the person is particularly close or deserving of more of an answer I might add "We would love to have as many as God would give us, but we are pretty broken right now. We're currently trying for a bit of a break, but God's will not ours be done" Or something like that.

GC, I've been where you are twice. After my first was born I was ready 2 mo pp to have more children. Now my first two children are close relatively speaking in age but at the time the wait seemed like it took forever. We went through some hard months with some health concerns that made those months scary. God bless you for wanting more, for being open to more, for understanding the blessing of God's gifts. And God bless you also as you receive His will, whatever that may be for you. I pray He gives you peace and that He sends more blessings your way according to His will.

Megan, how frustrating to be in a hard time and have people throwing a question like this your way.:( Hugs to you dear sister.
